Indian Accent voted India’s #1 restaurant again; The Bombay Canteen is #2 – Condé Nast Traveller India – The Last Word in Travel

Look who’s back at the top! Chef Manish Mehrotra’s Indian Accent has been crowned yet again as India’s best restaurant, with The Bombay Canteen at number 2. The Delhi restaurant was displaced last year by the Mumbai’s favourite restaurant, but has reclaimed its spot at the third edition of Condé Nast Traveller & Himalayan Top Restaurant Awards. The ranking of India’s top 50 premium dining establishments was announced last evening at a glittering ceremony at The Hyatt Regency, New Delhi. 

The big shake-up at Top Restaurant Awards

As many as 22 restaurants from last year were edged off the list by newer entries from across India. Mumbai has the most restaurants this time (14), followed by Bengaluru (10) and Delhi & NCR (9). 

The other big winners at Top Restaurant Awards

Topping the special list of Himalayan Raw & Fine Top 10 Restaurants of the Year was EDO, ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru. Five Excellence Awards were also presented to individuals for their achievements in promoting food and dining. David Lim of Singapore Airlines presented the Singapore Airlines India—Sky Epicurean Award to Masque, Mumbai. Chef Prateek will fly to Singapore to recreate his signature dish for the First & Business Class menus of the airlines. Zomato India joined hands with Condé Nast Traveller to present the Zomato Best New Restaurant Award to Qualia, Mumbai. 

The Zomato Excellence Award for Food Writing (Books) went to Saee Koranne-Khandekar for Pangat – A Feast (Hachette India)  while the Zomato Excellence Award for Food Writing (Essays) went to Sharanya Deepak for her essay: This Land Is Meant Only for Saffron. Without It, It Means Nothing’, published by Eater

For championing ingredient-driven cuisine at Arth, Chef Amninder Sandhu was awarded the Himalayan Raw and Fine Chef of the Year. Chef Rahul Gomes Pereira was presented with the The Singleton Unconventional Chef of the Year award. 

The Excellence Award for Homegrown Brand of the Year went to Taru Naturals.
