Restaurant News

As December 31 draws near, so many are concerned with resolutions and things to come. But let’s not forget—you’re about to enjoy your last supper—of 2019, at least. No matter how your 2019 panned out, you can end it on a delicious note. Make your reservations at one of these nine vegan-friendly restaurants across the US to ensure a very happy New Year.

1. Gracias Madre, West Hollywood and Newport Beach, CA
Skip the champagne and ring the in New Year with a shot of mezcal. The Los Angeles and Orange County locations of this see-and-be-seen Mexican restaurant will be open and raging until midnight with a DJ, signature cocktails, and exclusive menu items. Make your reservations to join this fierce fiesta.

2. Plant Food and Wine, Los Angeles and New York City
There’s an in-between celebration state between watching the ball drop from your couch and sporting plastic 2020 glasses at the club. Make a reservation at this seminal vegan fine-dining restaurant for a special prix fixe menu of expertly prepared vegan cuisine. With a relaxed yet refined atmosphere, you’ll enjoy a leisurely, well-paced dinner while still feeling like the night was special.

3. Santuari, Los Angeles, CA
Partying with a crowd of mixed eaters? Head to this LA hotspot if your friends roll their eyes at celebrating at a “vegan” place. The dedicated vegan prix fixe menu features five vegetable-focused courses and includes an exceptional wine pairing. We’ll toast to that!

4. Cafe Sunflower, Atlanta, GA
Three times a year, this staple vegan restaurant accepts reservations for its epic buffets—and you can bet those within the greater Atlanta area have their calendars marked. Claim your spot and look forward to southern comforts with a few Asian twists such as Basil Spring Rolls, Black Eye Pea Soup, Orange Soy Chicken, Cranberry Walnut Pilaf, and otherworldly desserts made by the vegan-friendly suburb bakery, Southern Sweets.

5. Althea, Chicago, IL
Complimentary champagne toast? We’re there. Similar to Plant Food and Wine on the coasts, this midwest upscale eatery by famed restauranteur Matthew Kenney is offering guests a special prix fixe menu rounded out with a celebratory flute of champagne. Reservations are required.

6. Ravens Restaurant at The Stanford Inn, Mendocino, CA
Escape to the woods for an intimate New Year’s Eve celebration amongst the cozy accommodations of this renowned vegan inn. While three hours north of San Francisco, the trek up the windy forest road is well worth this plant-based respite—particularly if you’re burnt out from past high energy New Year’s celebrations.

7. Modern Love, Brooklyn, NY and Omaha, NE
Celebrate your final meal of 2019 at New York Magazine’s Best Vegan Restaurant. You’ll find exceptional dishes and service at the Omaha location as well. The four-course prix fixe menu has us drooling—from the Buckwheat Blini with Caviar to the Baked Lobster Mac and Cheese—but what we’re really waiting for is the dessert. Come to us, Pink Champagne Tiramisu!

8. Leaf, Boulder, CO
Leaf is vegetarian—not completely vegan—but the New Year’s Eve prix fixe menu has plenty of mouthwatering vegan options to choose from. The four-course meal includes refined dishes such as Beluga Lentil Caviar, Sweet Potato-Leek Bisque, Royal Trumpet Paella, and a Pistachio Tartlette. Make your reservations before they sell out.

9. Great Sage, Clarksville, MD
You’ll find this charming vegan restaurant about 30 miles north of Washington, D.C. Take a trip out of the city for some feel-good vegan eats including a Pierogi Quesadilla, Butternut Fritters, Adult Mac & Cheese, or the whole foods-based Harvest Vitality Bowl. Enjoy with a glass of wine from the extensive collection and conclude 2019 with a slice of Sage’s Famous Carrot Cake.
