Veganuary is back with a bang.
And plenty of fast food retailers are taking part in the month-long event.
Last week KFC announced the launch of its new Quorn-based ‘chicken’ burger, and today Greggs launched its second vegan pastry – a plant-based steak bake.
Not one to miss out, Pizza Hut has also released a new meatless pepperoni pizza.
It is made with pea protein and Violife vegan cheese, providing the perfect plant-based substitute to the classic pizza.
Ciara Grace, Senior Menu Innovation Manager at Pizza Hut Restaurants, said: “Following the success of our vegan Jack ‘N’ Ch**se Pizza last Veganuary, we wanted to create something new for 2020 to excite both vegan and non-vegan customers.
“We strive to offer our guests as much choice as possible and love coming up with new, delicious recipes for them to try. Pea protein is a first for Pizza Hut Restaurants and we’re excited for guests to give it a go.”
Priced from £11.69, the limited-edition treat is the seventh vegan item on the Pizza Hut menu. It’s available to buy in restaurants now.
Elsewhere, Subway has also launched a Meatless Meatball Marinara.
The juicy vegan Meatless Meatballs are packed with all the flavour of the tasty original, and come smothered in the original Marinara sauce. Diners need not miss out on the melted, dairy cheese either, as the Meatless Meatball Marinara is topped with oozing slices of melted vegan cheese.
Toni Vernelli, Head of Communications International at Veganuary, said of the new launch: “Veganuary is creating a new wave of consumers with strong ethics and a big appetite! This is a real opportunity for businesses to improve and expand their plant-based offerings for the growing meat-free audience.
“We’re delighted that Subway has risen to this challenge – helping people who are avoiding meat to still enjoy the food they love – we can’t wait to try their new Meatless Meatball Marinara!”
