A vegan birthday cake is one of the hardest things to shop for without going to a specialist shop, but perhaps not anymore as Asda has made things easier with its latest launch.
The supermarket chain is now selling a vegan chocolate cake in the shape of an avocado, giving vegans and avo-lovers alike the perfect excuse to pop into their nearest store.
It serves up to 10 people and is made with a dairy-free chocolate sponge – which is covered in smooth green frosting.
Retailing at just £10, sweet-toothed vegans can pick up the plant-based treat from selected Asda supermarkets and online at asda.com .
The dairy-free delight marks the first time that Asda has released a completely vegan celebration cake – and it has also been approved by UK charity The Vegan Society.
With Veganuary in full swing, the supermarket’s Vegan Avocado Celebration Cake is sure to go down a treat with shoppers who are ditching dairy and meat products this month.
Sarah Burns, Asda’s Bakery Product Developer said: “Moving into 2020, we predict that there will be a drive for more vegan products across every shopping category, so we’re pleased that we can offer our customers a delicious cake that can be enjoyed at any celebration!
“Novelty shaped cakes are always well received by our customers, this year our favourites were the unicorn, llama and sloth cakes and we’re sure that the Avocado Celebration Cake will be a 2020 favourite too.”
Asda has even launched a store list for the new avocado-shaped cake on its website , making it easier for shoppers to find the treat and avoid wasting a trip.
The supermarket recently unveiled a huge range of vegan-friendly products under the ‘Asda Plant Based’ label, which includes tasty and exciting options like meat-free quarter pounder style burgers and No-Zzarella sticks.
