BLOOMING PRAIRIE, Minn. (KTTC) — A fire broke out Tuesday morning at a bakery in Blooming Prairie.
Police said the blaze started around 6:10 a.m. at a business called “The Bakery” at 345 Main Street East.
The bakery is in a historic building that used to be home to First National Bank. It is over 100 years old.
Police said no one was injured in the fire.
The Hayfield Fire Department, Blooming Prairie Fire Department and Ellendale Fire Department are at the scene. Claremont fire was also called to help shortly before 10 a.m.
The current owners have reportedly owned the bakery for more than 20 years.
“I’m just feeling very devastated to see this terrible fire in our town,” said Blooming Prairie resident Doris Rasmussen. “This bakery means a lot to everybody in Blooming Prairie.”
Authorities say the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
“This building is an icon. It’s truly a tragedy. We are all pulling for [the bakery owner] Greg, we are here for him. We are a city full of love,” said Blooming Prairie Police Chief Greg Skillestad
