A bakery was involved in a birthday cake bust-up – after accusing Birmingham City of not paying a bill for three months.

Chitty’s Cakes, located in Digbeth’s Custard Factory, tweeted the club after Saturday’s 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

The message, published at 8.43pm, said: “@BCFC congrats on the win today. Would be nice if you paid your invoices for the birthday cakes you have though. 3 months waiting!”

The firm was not available for immediate comment and and the full details of the alleged debt were not known.

But, replying to tweets, the company said it was less than £600.

It added: “Nothing serious just very frustrating.”

Blues refused to comment, although it was understood the matter was settled over the weekend.

Chitty’s described itself on its Twitter profile as a “provider of bespoke cakes and cupcakes for all occasions and teacher of cake decorating classes in & around Birmingham”.

The company was launched in 2011 by Rebecca Chitty, who later sold it to director Julie Steed.
