Ian and Emma Harrison opened the store on Bank Street and chose to settle in the town after moving around the world with the army.
Ian had spent 16 years serving with the British Army living in Aldershot and Cyprus before settling in Wakefield last year.
And said it was now time for him to support Emma in their new business venture.
Ian said: “ Ossett is our first shop. It was recommended to us by a friend and I am so happy they did because the community here is amazing.
“We were very anxious about opening the shop, wondering if it would be successful, but it has exceeded all our expectations.
The couple are self taught, using You Tube videos for guidance, but they took an adventure to start their own family-run business.
“We used to just bake from home for fun and then it started taking off and people began buying them everyday.” Ian said.
They started a Facebook page to promote their homemade goods with it shooting to 22,000 members all showing support.
“The locals all pop in to say hello and have really welcomed us. They agree it was nice to see something fresh brought to the town. “
And the people of Ossett have nothing but praise for the new business.
Debbie Squires, owner of Squires Family Deli, said: “It’s nice for new people to bring their businesses to our town, not only are they bringing new trades but new customers too and it is great.
“Everybody knows who they are already, it’s amazing and shows how hardworking the people in Ossett really are.”
Emma said: “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone for coming along on our journey and helping our dreams come true.
“We will be expanding, so keep an eye out and watch this space!”
