The chef lineup and a date has been announced for Cochon555, the annual food, wine and spirits competition and tasting event.

Organizers announced that the all-you-can-eat-and-drink event is set for Sunday, March 29, at Loews Minneapolis Hotel. Chefs competing in the event include Chandra Walbolt of Union Hmong Kitchen, Tommy Begnaud of Butcher and the Boar, Michael Shaughnessy of Mill Valley Kitchen, Dewey Ikeda of Lake & Irving and Carrie McCabe-Johnston of Nightingale.

Each chef will be tasked with using a whole heritage breed pig to come up with several creative dishes. A “Prince or Princess of Pork,” will be crowned, and the winning Twin Cities chef will advance to the Grand Cochon national competition in September.

The Twin Cities event will also feature the Somm Smackdown beverage competition. Other highlights include a ramen tasting, Wheatley Vodka Bloody Mary Bar, Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned Bar, and El Tesoro Passion Paloma Bar.

The event benefits the Land Stewardship Project, a nonprofit promoting sustainable agriculture and working to develop sustainable communities.
