It’s a good time to be a pizza lover in Edinburgh.
While the popular NKD Pizza closed its two branches in the capital recently, some of the team behind the franchise are setting up a new pizzeria at the same Morningside location.
It’s called The Pizza Shop and they have some specially-designed doughs which you won’t find anywhere else.
Their £9 pizzas come in sourdough, hearty wholemeal and gluten free options. The Pizza Shop is taking orders now and are due to open up their shop on Morningside Drive on Monday.
If you’re lucky, you might get your hands on a free pizza when the shop launches. Those who ordered from NKD recently are also set to get a voucher for free samples.
Manager David Armstrong told us: “We’re going to offer existing customers free pizza, anyone who ordered within the last six months. They can come in and pick it up or pay for a delivery.”
Bosses are keen for it to be a “community company” which contributes to local causes.
David added: “We will be run as a collective by four young managers aged between 17 and 30, giving people who might not be in a possition to do so the chance to run their own business.
“It is also going the be run as a community company whose aim is not to make profits but to help fund community projects that matter to local people.”
