Proving that you cannot be too careful during the COVID-19 pandemic, Vancouver firefighters showed a little ingenuity and some upper body strength when they accepted a pizza delivery from A.J.’s Brooklyn Pizza Joint on Sunday.
A firefighter, outfitted with a protective mask, completed the “contactless” transaction using a rope to reel the bag of pizzas up to a second-storey balcony at Vancouver FireHall No. 8.

A.J.’s Brooklyn Pizza Joint, located at 325 East Broadway, sent dozens of pizzas to a handful of firehalls this weekend in a gesture of appreciation.
“It’s a thank-you to them for being on the front lines and doing what they’re doing,” said staff member Jessica Price.
The pizzas were meant to be complimentary, but AJ.’s says the firefighters paid for the pies anyway.
A.J.’s, like all Vancouver restaurants that are still operating, moved to strict takeout and delivery model last week after the city ordered all eateries to discontinue table service in an effort to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.
