The Chef and His Wife amps up delivery and curbside pickup – Chattanooga Times Free Press

In the wake of COVID-19, many restaurants are having to find new ways to continue to reach out to their customers, and for chef Tim Mulderink and his crew at The Chef and His Wife in Hixson, they are working tirelessly to make sure customers can still get a great meal without the hassle.

“We are currently offering more than 20 meal varieties, both family and single-size portions, from chicken potpie, lasagna, chicken Italian, meatloaf, quiche, dessert pies, our famous pimento cheese, thin-crust pizzas and chicken salad along with gluten-free options,” Mulderink said, stressing that they are offering curbside pickup and delivery. “Delivery is free, and you can order by noon for same-day delivery.”

He added that they are closed to retail traffic at the store currently, but they are happy to take phone, web or closed-door orders on-site.

“We take the order to a cart outside our door,” he explained. “We step away and motion for the customer to leave their car to retrieve their order from the cart to ensure we’re keeping that adequate safe distance.”

Mulderink added that the menu specializes in American comfort food.

“We are introducing lighter meals as the spring weather [warms up] as well,” he said. “Our pimento cheese is available at all local Food City stores.”

The Chef and His Wife currently has COVID-19 temporary hours, which are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Customers can put in for delivery or curbside pickup anytime they are open or online at

“Business has been busy,” Mulderink said, noting he’s thankful to continue to be able to reach out and help the community. “We take care of many seniors whose children shop for them, and we’re delighted to be a part of that.”
