Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order allowing restaurants to reopen their dining rooms starting on Friday, May 1. While many Austin restaurants are choosing to keep their dining rooms closed and opting to stick to current takeout and delivery models instead, there are other local restaurants that are planning to reopen this week.
Restaurants that will open their dining rooms will have to follow protocols outlined by the state’s handbook, in order to continue to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus. This includes operate at 25 percent capacity, limit parties to six people or less, make sure tables and seats are six feet apart, and implement thorough sanitizatization of high-touch areas.
