A Derbyshire bakery has brought a sweet side to lockdown by offering customers the chance to design their very own cake toppings.
Stacey’s Bakery, which has four stores across Derbyshire, is encouraging people to put their cake crafting skills to the test.
Customers can design their own cake topping online with a personal message or picture and then have it made into an edible treat.
To design a cake, customers have to go onto the website and download the topping template design to form the basis of the cake.
Then budding bakers have free reign over what they can draw inside the cake template, either by hand or using a computer.
Past creations which are shown on the website include a “colourful” abstract cake and one dedicated to a granddad on his birthday.
Finished designs can then be emailed to the bakery team, or dropped into a store, who will upload the design onto their online shop.
From there, any customer from across Derbyshire can view and order a cake with that design, including the original creator.
Any “design your own” cake costs £6 to order and is of the same type as the bakery’s chocolate top sponge and snow cakes.
Stacey’s Bakery has two shops in Ilkeston, one in Eastwood and another in Heanor and they are also doing deliveries to certain areas.
Cake designs can be emailed to [email protected] and delivery post codes can be found on the company website.
