The restaurant, located at 319 W. Ponce de Leon Ave., had been closed since mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Jack Arnold of Stream Realty Partners, the landlord for the location, told What Now Atlanta that the eatery will not reopen and that they are “actively marketing the space to new users.”

Stacy Eames, the president of Ingrained, Inc., doing business as Highland Bakery, said the company had been working with Stream Realty to stay in the space, but that ultimately, franchisee Jill Johnson was planning to close the restaurant because Stream was pursuing other tenants.

Several Highland Bakery locations remain open, including spots in Old Fourth Ward, Cumberland and Midtown.

Arnold and Eames were not immediately available for comment.

Highland Bakery joins several other Decatur restaurants that have closed permanently of late, including The Pinewood, Doggy Dogg and Ted’s Montana Grill.

Other post-pandemic metro Atlanta restaurant closures include Genki Noodles and Sushi in Virginia-Highland, Amelie’s French Bakery in West Midtown, Dantanna’s in downtown Atlanta and Mother Bar + Kitchen in Old Fourth Ward.
