TV chef Nick Nairn, 61, who master-minded our top list of Indian restaurants earlier this month, says: “Pizza is delicious, it’s good value for money and the perfect family food – that’s why it’s so popular with us Brits.”

The star of BBC One’s The Great Food Guys adds: “I had my first Italian pizza 30 years ago. It was super hot, crispy and juicy, I’ve been chasing that taste ever since. When you’ve had the real thing there’s no turning back.”

Nick admits his favourite topping choice can “split a room” however, adding: “Ham and pineapple – I do it. I totally get it’s not for everyone. But I think it’s fantastic.”

With your trip to Naples likely on hold for now, Judy Cogan asks Nick to pick his top knead-to-dough pizza restaurants around the UK.
