Medina Restaurant Week brings local twist to menu –

MEDINA, Ohio — Main Street Medina is hosting its sixth annual Restaurant Week — er, weeks — now through Oct. 18.

“It’s a good way for us to promote our members rather than just saying ‘go eat here,’” said Matt Wiederhold, executive director of Main Street Medina.

The event is modeled after other successful restaurant weeks in surrounding areas such as Cleveland and Akron.

“Some of the chefs use it as an opportunity to try new menu items and see how the public responds,” Wiederhold said.

“It’s good for the community, because it reminds them that it’s really important to support locally owned and operated businesses and that they have alternative dining options when they’re going out, and not just the major chains,” he said.

Among the Medina restaurants participating are 17 Public Square, Miss Molly’s Tea Room, One Eleven Bistro, Thyme 2, Twiisted, Lemonberry and more.

Diners do not need to pre-purchase a ticket or sign up in order to participate. Simply visit participating restaurants and ask about their special offer.

Not every restaurant will be open for both lunch and dinner, so Wiederhold suggests that you call ahead.

“This is one of our favorite events and partnerships. We love being able to promote all the wonderful dining opportunities in Medina,” he said.

“Restaurant Weeks has become a very popular annual event, and gives people a great opportunity to support local establishments.

“Guests are encouraged to share selfies of their dining experience on our Facebook page and tag #dinemedina or #medinarestaurant week to win a gift card for another meal,” Wiederhold noted in a press release.
