MUMBAI: A senior police inspector and six policemen have come under criticism for celebrating the birthday of a local real estate agent, by cutting a cake at Tulinj police station in Nalasopara (east). The agent, Sachin Gala, celebrated his birthday on October 11.
A video of Gala cutting a cake in the cabin of senior inspector D S Patil went viral. The video, shot on Monday evening, shows Patil and six cops, all in uniform, singing ‘happy birthday’ to Gala.

While locals said that cases are registered against Gala at police stations in the Vasai-Virar belt, Gala claimed that no case has been registered against him.
Additional commissioner of police Amol Mandave has initiated a departmental inquiry into the matter.
