If you have started visiting restaurants again, you should know that the people taking your orders and those preparing the meal are not doing so well on the financial front due to the pandemic.
The restaurant industry all over the world was hit hard by lockdowns and COVID-19 regulations.
Even though eateries and cafes are slowly resuming full operations, their employees are working hard to earn some extra money. So if you really care about them, leave something extra on that bill cover.
A gesture of benevolence in these times of crisis can go a long way in making a restaurant worker feel happy.
A man in Colorado cared a little too much for employees at a restaurant. So, he decided to leave a $200 tip for every worker at Notchtop Bakery & Café in Estes Park. And the reason stated for his generous donation plain and simple – ‘COVID sucks’.
The customer, known only as David, left a tip total of $1,400 for seven employees at the cafe. He left the amount on top of his $20 meal with a note that read, ‘COVID sucks! $200 for each employee today!’
Following the kind-hearted gesture, the restaurant thanked the customer on Facebook.”Thank you, David, for your generous gift to our staff. Your gift has touched many lives,”Notchtop Bakery & Cafe wrote.
The gesture was lauded by many Facebook users.
Last year, a waitress in the US had been out of work for months. When she returned to work at a pub in Indiana, she was taken aback by a generous gesture by a customer.
Waitress in the US and other parts of the world are usually tipped 15-20% of the total bill. However, Katie received one that was 963% of the total bill. She received a tip of $330, following which she was left in tears.
