Coimbatore: The city police on Monday arrested three employees of a restaurant for assaulting their owner for sacking them.
The arrested were identified as M Siva alias Sivashankar, 24, S Sarathi, 24, and M Mithun, 24, all from Gudalur in the Nilgiris district.
The restaurant on Podanur Road is owned by S Sebastian, 30, of Amman Nagar on Nanjundapuram Road at Podanur. The three youths were staying in a rental room near Podanur. Police said Sebastian sacked the trio a few months ago. However, one of their friends Vetri was working in the restaurant.
On Sunday, the trio took Vetri to their room and made him consume liquor. Vetri did not go for work and failed to inform Sebastian as well.
Meanwhile, Sebastian contacted Siva over phone and argued with him for making Vetri pass out. Subsequently, the trio went to the restaurant and assaulted Sebastian in full public view. They also vandalized the restaurant.
Sebastian suffered injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Podanur. Based on his complaint, the Podanur police registered a case against the trio under sections 294 (b), 323, 324 and 506 (ii) of the Indian Penal Code. Police arrested the accused on Monday and remanded them in judicial custody. tnn
